In our modern life today, most of the Filipino has been entered into business called ukay-ukay also known as "segunda mano". Stores selling slightly used product has scattered anywhere all over the country. Many of these can be found anywhere in every villages of each town and in different stalls inside the public markets or even in the malls in provinces. Some of this products are appliances like televisions, DVD players, refrigerators. Cellphones are also available in some ukay-ukay shops and clothes which is the most bought by the consumers and the other electronic products most used today comes from nearby countries like korea, japan, and china.
Used clothes are the most in demand items at this present compare to other things mentioned above. One time, I was with my two brother and a cousin. We were looking for ukay-ukay shop along the streets in Quezon City to buy things for ourselves and there are lots of it selling clothes at reasonable prices. Afterwards, we reached a 3 storey building mall and when we entered it, we found a stall on the third floor as wide as 3 classrooms, full of used clothes and shoes that cost only 100 pesos on each item. We had many choices but unfortunately I only bought one pants because the other pants that I like doesn't fits me.
Some Filipinos prefer to visit and buy things in ukay-ukay stalls rather than clothing shops in malls because of the large differences in prices that cost them a lot. It is managed mostly by different individual ladies who were always well-groomed and properly dressed. Different items are available like shirts, pants, coats, shoes and even accessories so there will be a lot of choices to choose by the consumers. These things are sold at a cheapest price that can be given depending on the one who sells it. It is mostly branded and really affordable for everyone. Some also visits nearby towns public markets just to look and buy newly arrives clothes. Not all items are cheap, some were at a little bit higher price compare to other clothes or accessories. Used clothes merchants purchased half of their items sometimes locally and the other half remaining are outside the country. The other source also comes from goodwill. If your lucky, you could find new branded clothes sell at a cheapest price.
For Gadgets, not everything offered are guaranteed long lasting. Some of these are laptops, Digital cameras, and cellphones. It is not covered by warranties and there still be a possibility that these things my breakdown at anytime that leads to buying of spare parts and repair. Some Filipino adapts this way of livelihood because of their present life situation they have.https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=adsense&rm=hide&fpui=3&nui=15&alwf=true<mpl=adsense&passive=true&continue=https://www.google.com/adsense/gaiaauth2&followup=https://www.google.com/adsense/gaiaauth2&hl=en_US
